Tilray, a global leader in the research, cultivation, production, and distribution of medical cannabis, and Aphria, a premier producer of high-quality cannabis grown in natural conditions, sought a logo to represent their merger while retaining the name 'Tilray.'
The goal was to design a new logo that captured the essence of the name—'till,' symbolizing the cultivation of the earth, and 'ray,' representing both a ray of sunshine for healthy plant growth and a ray of hope for patients. Additionally, a brand video was created to unveil the merger.
Several logo concepts were developed to capture the essence of the original brief. However, the client ultimately opted for a simpler approach, combining the Aphria icon with a slightly customized Tilray wordmark to match the sharp, angled shapes of the logo. The brand video highlights the significance of these two innovative companies coming together.
